Man charged with DUI, going 105 in a 55 mph construction zone with juvenile in vehicle

20-year-old Jose Castellanos was charged with possession, 2nd DUI, underage drinking, driving revoked, and reckless endangerment after an officer observed him weaving through traffic 105 miles per hour in a 55 mph construction zone.

On August 27th, Wilson County Officer got behind a vehicle that was weaving through a construction zone on Interstate 40 doing 105 in a 55 mph zone. Once they were outside the construction zone, the officer made contact with the driver Jose Castellanos. Once Castellanos was outside the vehicle, the officer smelled a strong odor of intoxicant on his breath. Jose Castellanos told the officer he had consumed one beer prior to driving.

His driver’s license was revoked for driving under the influence in Wilson County on August 8th, 2018 and he was also convicted of driving revoked in January. There were two passengers in the vehicle with him, one was a juvenile. A search incident to the arrest produced a green leafy substance inside the vehicle suspected to be marijuana. Castellanos also received a citation for speeding, reckless driving, and open container.

Jose Castellanos was charged with 2nd driving under the influence, driving on revoked license, reckless endangerment, underage consumption, and simple possession, marijuana; his bond was set $8,000.
