Man continues his losing streak with his fifth attempt to steal from Walmart

40-year-old Phillip Hirst was charged with trespassing and theft of merchandise when he attempting to steal $375 worth of merchandise from Lebanon’s Walmart.

On August 31st, a complaint was made by Loss Prevention Officer Amanda Sims about a man attempting to shoplift from Walmart at South Cumberland Street in Lebanon. Phillip Hirst had entered Walmart and removed multiple items from a display and put them in his shopping cart.

Hirst then walked past self check out and attempted to walk past theft prevention but was stopped. Previous Walmart records showed Hirst was not allowed to be in any Walmart stores due to three previous thefts in Mt. Juliet and one in Cumberland County. He still entered Walmart after being warned that he needed permission from the owner, which he did not have. The value of the merchandise Hirst attempted to steal was $375.06.

Phillip Hirst was arrested and charged on October 1st with theft of merchandise and criminal trespass. He was released on his own recognizance.
