26-year-old William Barrett was charged with aggravated assault and false report after he swerved his vehicle into a woman’s car to keep her from passing him.
On October 14th Mt. Juliet Police Officer Hoppe responded to a car accident on Interstate 40 West when Kelly Moure tried to pass William Barrett.
Moure told Officer Hoppe that Barrett randomly changed his speed, applied his brakes, and blocked Moure from passing him. He then moved his vehicle into the first lane and Moure attempted to pass him by moving into the second lane. Barrett abruptly swerved into Moure, striking her vehicle, endangering her life and safety. Reportedly, he falsified the story he gave Officer Hoppe stating Moure hit his vehicle on the passenger door. Moure gave the officer a dash camera video proving Barret to be the aggressor.
William Barrett was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and false reports to an officer. He was released on a $6,000 bond.
