Repeat DUI offender admits to having two drinks before driving

54-year-old Richie Allison was charged with driving under the influence and driving on a revoked license when he was pulled over on a routine traffic stop for expired tags.

On October 3rd, Lebanon Police Officer Dillin Polston noticed a vehicle with an expired registration on South Cumberland and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, Richie Allison, had an odor of an intoxicant associated with alcoholic beverages on and about his breath and person. Allison’s eyes were red and watery, he had slurred speech, and unsteady on his feet. Officer Polston offered three standardized field sobriety tests. He attempted two of the tests which indicated clues of impairment.

Allison admitted that he consumed two alcoholic beverages before driving. According to the affidavit, he has been convicted for four prior DUI’s in Wilson County in August 2017, August 2013, June 2013, and November 2007. Allison has also been convicted of driving on a revoked license in Wilson County three prior times in August 2017, December 2014, and May 1994.

Richie Allison was arrested and charged with driving under influence – 5th offense and driving on a revoked license – 4th offense. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $7,500 bond.
