Unlicensed driver sends mailbox to the ground #DUI

24-year-old Francisco Santos was charged with driving under the influence and driving without a license after being found in his running vehicle with a mailbox post wedged under it.

On October 11th, Mt. Juliet Police Officer Wiley responded to 81 Curd Road in Mt. Juliet, to assist Corporal Valsaint with a running vehicle sitting on the side of the road. When the officers approached the vehicle they noticed a mailbox post was wedged underneath it. After Francisco Santos was asked to step out of the vehicle officers noticed the odor of alcohol emitting from him and they also noticed he had red watery eyes and was unsteady on his feet.

A family member, Adriana Garcia, arrived on the scene as a translator between the two to assist in the officers questioning and instructions. Santos failed to complete the field sobriety testing as instructed which then led to a driver’s license check revealing he was unlicensed to drive a vehicle in the United States.

Francisco Santos was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and driving without a license. He was released on a $1,500 bond.
