Woman makes her husband “dance” by shooting at him after birthday celebration

44-year-old Phyllis Ballinger was charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and public intoxication after she shot at her husband because he left her dancing in the street while on the way home from a birthday celebration.

On September 25th, Wilson County Sheriff Deputy Lanius was dispatched to a domestic assault call at 17650 Central Pike. Upon arrival, Phyllis Ballinger and her husband Ollie Minton had been at drinking at Cinco De Mayo Mexican Restaurant to celebrate her birthday. Ollie said Phyllis kept getting out of the vehicle to dance in the street while they were heading home. They reportedly started arguing and Ollie left her in the street. Then he called his sister Kelly to pick her up.

In the car, Phyllis told Kelly she was going to harm him and shoot rounds at his feet to watch him dance. Kelly sent text messages to Ollie telling him what Phyllis said. When they arrived at the house, Phyllis went inside and retrieved a gun. Ollie shot two rounds into the ground with his weapon. Phyllis chased him around outside while firing rounds at him. In order to avoid being shot, he hid behind a shed and several cars. Officers found 13 casings on the ground and stated that Phyllis smelled of intoxicants as well as being unsteady on her feet.

Phyllis Ballinger was charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, public intoxication, and possession of a weapon while under influence. Her bond was set at $13,500.
