Man tells police he was looking at his phone while driving causing him to crash; charged with DUI

43-year-old Jonathan Scillian was charged with DUI after he crashed his car then police smelled alcohol on him but he said that he could not do a field sobriety test due to hip pain.

On October 25th, Mt. Juliet Police Officer Clark was dispatched to a crash at 107 Pascal Drive. On arrival contact with the driver Jonathan Scillian who stated he was looking at his phone when he wrecked.

Jonathan had a strong odor of alcohol about his person, slow speech, and red watery eyes. Police attempted to get him to perform a field sobriety test but he stated his hip was in pain. He then refused to receive medical treatment when it was offered to him.

Jonathan Scillian was arrested and charged with DUI. He was later released on his own recognizance.
