Laraziah Quinvette Turner, charged with kicking a Lebanon Police officer in the face at the Wilson County Fair, took a plea deal that reduced her charge to a misdemeanor, and received a sentence of time served (4 days), a $50 fine, and costs, by Judge Haywood Barry.
The opening weekend of the Wilson County Fair came with false reports of gunfire and a dramatic stampede – a result of multiple fights, some of which were resolved by the use of chemical agents on the young fair goers, as confirmed by the Wilson County Sheriff’s office late last week. On Saturday night, August 17th, during a brawl, 19-year-old Laraziah Quinvette Turner approached Lebanon Police Officer Jeff Scott and kicked him in the face with her foot before fleeing the scene. After a brief chase, Officer Scott caught up with Turner and placed her under arrest. She was booked into the Wilson County Jail, charged with felony aggravated assault on a police officer, and given a $10,000 bond she was unable to post.
At her court appearance on August 21st, Turner took a plea deal that was presented to her, which reduced her felony charge to a misdemeanor, fined her $50 in addition to court costs, and imposed an effective jail sentence of her time served, which was 4 days. The technical sentence as laid out in the plea was 364 days at 75%, all suspended except for 4 days, with 4 days of time served credit, so she was released shortly after her court appearance. She will be on probation as a condition of her plea.
