Man charged for grabbing girlfriend by the hair, threatening to kill her

31-year-old Israel Mezo was charged with domestic assault, kidnapping, and interfering with 911 call after he got into an argument with his girlfriend, stole her phone, grabbed her by the hair and pulled her into his car, and threatened to kill her. He then turned her phone off after she tried calling 911.

On March 8th, Officer Gilley was dispatched to 404 East Forrest Avenue in reference to a domestic. Upon arrival, Tiffany Mezo told officers that her boyfriend Israel Mezo came to her house and she went outside to speak with him. She went on to say that an argument shortly followed that resulted in Israel grabbing her phone and returning to his vehicle.

Tiffany said she tried to get her phone back from him, but Israel grabbed her by the hair and pulled her into the car. According to the affidavit, while Tiffany’s legs were “still hanging out of the vehicle with the door open”, Israel told her he was “going to take her to a lake in Gallatin and kill her”.

Tiffany said Israel kept hitting her in the left leg to make her stay still and she continued begging him to let her out of the car. During their ride to Gallatin, Tiffany said she yelled “Siri, call 911” and Israel turned her phone off. They stopped in Gallatin near a McDonald’s and Tiffany was able to escape and seek help.

On April 8th, Israel Mezo was arrested and charged with domestic assault, kidnapping, and interfering with 911 call. His bond was set at $14,000.
