Man charged for shoplifting $60.46 worth of merchandise from Mt. Juliet Walmart

27-year-old Mordecai Cephas was charged with theft of merchandise after he and an accomplice were caught going through self-checkout and not scanning all of their items at Walmart in Mt. Juliet, per report.

On April 5th, Officer Carver was dispatched to Walmart at 300 Pleasant Grove Road in Mt. Juliet in reference to a shoplifter. Upon arrival, contact was made with Loss Prevention employee Yuki Loomis and two male suspects. Yuki reported that she observed the two men, later identified as Mordecai Cephas and Phillip Harrison, on security footage selecting merchandise before going to the self-checkout lane.

Yuki continued by saying that Mordecai and Phillip worked together in checking out and not scanning all their items. According to the affidavit, she observed both men pass all points of sale and head for the exit. Both men were stopped in the store’s vestibule.

Officer Carver noted the observation of security footage that was consistent with Yuki’s statement. The total amount taken from the store was $60.46.

Mordecai Cephas was charged with theft of merchandise. His bond was set at $1,500.
