41-year-old Joshua Chapman was charged with domestic assault after he attacked his girlfriend with a stick at a local Mapco and was later found down the street.
On April 29th, LPD officers were dispatched to Mapco located on 803 South Cumberland Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. Betheny Moore shared with police that she and boyfriend Joshua Chapman had gotten into a verbal argument and Chapman got angry.
Chapman then chased her around brandishing a stick which he was wildly swinging at her. She said she blocked his swings with her left forearm. Officers noted Betheny’s arm had some redness and swelling. Friends then came to Betheny’s aid by chasing Chapman away until police picked him up down the road.
Joshua Chapman was arrested and charged with domestic assault. He was later released on his own recognizance.
