30-year-old Shatanae Truss was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated robbery, and leaving the scene with injury after a witness observed her run a man over and take things out of his pockets. She drove off and came back later because her mother told her to, and police found Gayhart’s debit card in her possession.
On June 13th, Officer Martin responded to 101 Meadows Drive to find the victim, Stephen Gayhart, unconscious in the parking lot. When police were able to interview Gayhart he said that he was run over by his girlfriend. Olivia White, the witness, said that she heard a loud thud and came outside and saw the defendant, Shatanae Truss, looting Gayhart’s pockets.
Truss then drove off but returned while authorities were at the scene because her mother insisted. Police observed damage to the vehicle as well as soda on the vehicle consistent with the soda can close to Gayhart on the ground. She denied hitting him with her vehicle but she was found with his debit card inside her pocket. Gayhart needed medical interventions due to the severity of his injuries.
Shantanae Truss was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, aggravated robbery, and leaving the scene with personal injury. Her bond was set at $7,000.
