Mt. Juliet man assaults girlfriend and child amidst infidelity accusations

35-year-old Thomas Sheffield was charged with two counts of domestic assault after slamming a bedroom door on his girlfriend’s arm twice then punching his 12-year-old son in the face while coming to her defense.

On June 5th, Officer Myers was dispatched to 609 Willow Creek Drive in Mt. Juliet in response to an emergency call for assistance. According to the affidavit, Thomas Sheffield was in a verbal altercation with his girlfriend Stephanie Frederico, who accused him of infidelity within their relationship. During the dispute, Frederico exited the bedroom and was denied re-entry upon return by Sheffield. The argument became physical at this point, which resulted in Sheffield slamming Frederico’s arm in the bedroom door twice, per report. There were visible injuries to the woman’s arm that matched the claim.

Following the physical struggle between the two parties, Sheffield’s 12-year-old son came to Frederico’s aid and started to record the incident on his cell phone. Sheffield responded to this by striking the boy in the face with a closed fist as well as initiating a struggle for the phone. Myers additionally noticed an injury to the minor’s wrist caused by Sheffield. Law enforcement proceeded to determine Sheffield as the primary aggressor during the incident and brought him into custody for two counts of domestic assault.

Thomas Sheffield was arrested and charged with two counts of domestic assault. He was later released on his own recognizance.
