“Tweaking” Lebanon woman gave false statement to police

48-year-old Mary Vester was charged with public intoxication for displaying behavior known as “tweaking” when she flagged police down and reported she was left with her feet in the mud, her car was stolen, and that she was choked out.

On June 7th, Officer Vantrease was flagged down by Mary Vester. Officer Vantrease noticed that Vester was very fidgety, had slurred speech, and was unsteady on her feet; he described her as tweaking. She told the officer that she was left with her feet in the mud, her car was stolen, and she had been choked put.

After checking in with DeKalb County, the officer knew that her statement was not true and he speculated that she had taken some kind of narcotic. She was placed into custody due to her level of intoxication making her a threat to herself and others.

Mary Vester was arrested and charged with public intoxication. She was later released on her own recognizance.
