DUI stop leads to drug charges after Xanax bars are found in vehicle

33-year-old Ashley Calvert was charged with driving under the influence and possession of Xanax when a prescription pill bottle for Suboxone containing five bars was located in her car during a suspected DUI traffic stop.

On August 2nd, Deputy Matt Lanius observed a vehicle in Lebanon Road in Mount Juliet, TN having difficulty staying within the lines. Deputy Lanius performed a traffic stop and spoke with the driver of the vehicle, Ashley Calvert. The deputy noticed that Calvert’s pupils were extremely dilated and that she was slurring her words.

Deputy Lanius requested for her to step out of the vehicle, and Calvert had difficulty keeping her balance. During the field sobriety tests, she exhibited several signs of impairment. Deputy Lanius performed a search of the vehicle and found a Suboxone prescription pill bottle containing five light green bars. The prescription bottle found was not a valid prescription for Ashley Calvert.

Ashley Calvert was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and possession of Xanax. Her bond was set at $2,000.
