Hendersonville woman involved in boating accident with injuries

30-year-old Morgan Whitworth was charged with following a vessel too closely, boater education, and failure to report an accident after she was involved in a boating accident that caused injuries and fled the scene.

On June 13th, when officers arrived at Two Foot Cove on Old Hickory Lake in Wilson County to a two-vessel injury accident none of the parties were on the scene. The injured party had been transported to Stark Knob Boat Ramp to be taken to Skyline Medical Center by Sumner County Emergency Communications Center.

Only after investigation did the officer find that the two operators of the vessels were Morgan Whitworth and Candace Thompson. After several attempts of trying to contact them via phone, the officer did not get in touch with either party. The officer also tried to issue citations for the accident to no avail. Whitworth and Thompson did not wish to meet with the officer, per report.

On August 3rd, Morgan Whitworth was arrested and charged with following a vessel too closely, boater education, and failure to report an accident. She was later released on her own recognizance.
