Man stopped in stolen vehicle found with heroin and no license

31-year-old Steven Butler was charged with theft of property, possession of heroin, drug paraphernalia, and driving without a license when police stopped him in a stolen vehicle and heroin fell from his lap when he got out of the car.

On August 3rd, Mount Juliet Police Department (MJPD) Officer Neal conducted a traffic stop after running a car that was found to be stolen through their system.

Steven Butler stepped out of the vehicle had a metal container fall out of his lap that contained heroin. There was a spoon attached to the metal container that had white residue on it. Inside the vehicle above the steering wheel, the officer found a black box containing a glass pipe with residue in it as well as a red box under the driver seat with another pipe with white residue. When a search was conducted of Butler’s person, police found a black plastic bag inside his wallet that contained heroin. The stolen vehicle was a Mercury Mountaineer valued at $7,000.

Steven Butler was arrested and charged with theft of property, possession of heroin, drug paraphernalia, and driving without a license. His bond was set at $7,000.
