Wrongway driver found with empty fifth of vodka and Tramadol

39-year-old Christopher Huggins was charged with his fourth DUI offense and possession of Tramadol when he was pulled over for almost striking a median and reportedly smelled of alcohol during the traffic stop.

On October 5th, Wilson County Deputy Chris Conner was traveling on South Hartman Drive in Lebanon, when he noticed a vehicle having difficulty maintaining its lane and almost striking a median. The driver then was driving between both of the southbound lanes of the road. Deputy Conner initiated a traffic stop and the driver was identified as Christopher Huggins. Officer Conner noticed the odor of an intoxicant that is associated with alcoholic beverages on both his breath and his person.

Huggins had slurred speech and appeared to be unsteady on his feet when exiting his vehicle. Deputy Conner offered a field sobriety test which Huggins refused to perform. While searching Huggins’ vehicle, an almost empty fifth of Vodka was in the passenger seat. In the driver’s side door, there was a clear plastic baggy that contained twenty Tramadol pills. Huggins was convicted of driving under the influence on, June 26th, 2019 in Wilson County which ruled to revoke his license. He was charged with a DUI also on June 24th, 2013, in Maury County and on August 18, 2015, in Sumner County.

Christopher Huggins was arrested and charged with a fourth DUI offense, possession of Tramadol, and driving on a revoked license. He was released on his own recognizance.
