Man approaches mother with ax during argument about money

36-year-old Jonathan Gore was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and possession of methamphetamine after police say he walked towards his mother and a neighbor with an ax during an argument about money.

On December 5th, Wilson County Sheriff’s Deputy Nycole Vaughn responded to a domestic call at the residence of Jonathan Gore at 170B Atkinson Road. Upon arrival, Kathy Hamilton advised she and her neighbor, Maria Hitchcock, were confronted by her son Jonathan Gore, who accused Kathy of taking money.

According to the affidavit, he got angry, grabbed an ax, and walked towards them in a threatening manner causing them to fear for their lives. After he was detained, a search revealed a small Ziploc bag of methamphetamine in his pocket. When the deputy asked if he knew what kind of drug it was, he responded “probably methamphetamine” and asked if the police would arrest his mother for the drugs found in his possession.

Jonathan Gore was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and possession of methamphetamine. He is currently jailed in lieu of an $18,000 bond.
