Smyrna shopper fails to scan nearly $70 worth of merchandise

50-year-old Fready Simmons was charged with burglary and theft of merchandise after he was caught not scanning items correctly at Walmart in Mt. Juliet. He was trespassed from Walmart properties just two days prior in Rutherford County.

On May 19th, Officer Crawford received a call regarding a potential theft at the Walmart on 300 Pleasant Grove Road in Mt. Juliet. On arrival, Crawford noticed a man matching the given description exiting the store. The man, later identified as Fready Simmons, was detained and taken to Walmart’s loss prevention office.

Crawford then met with Yuki Loomis, who claimed to see Simmons incorrectly scanning items in order to “deprive the store of items.” The store’s video surveillance confirmed Loomis’ statements. Upon further investigation, Crawford discovered that Simmons had recently trespassed on another Walmart property, intruding the Rutherford county location two days prior. The amount stolen was estimated at $69.76, per the affidavit.

Fready Simmons was arrested and charged with burglary and theft of merchandise. His bond was set at $3,500.
