Man says, “No, I haven’t drank or done anything in 20 years;” charged with DUI

48-year-old Stephen Bullard was charged with DUI after officers noticed two trucks that had crashed in the street and spoke to him in the back of an ambulance where he showed signs of intoxication.

October 29th, Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper White responded to 14855 Cainsville Road in Lebanon for a personal vehicle crash involving two vehicles. Trooper White stated that one of the two white pickup trucks was over-turned and blocking the center of the roadway. One of the drivers was identified as Stephen Bullard who was in the back of an ambulance at the scene according to the officer’s report.

Trooper White stated that Bullard had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his person, bloodshot and watery eyes, and slurred speech. Bullard was asked, by Trooper White, if he had been drinking. Bullard stated, “No, I haven’t drank or done anything in 20 years.” Trooper White asked Bullard if was taking any medications for using any drugs, to which Bullard replied “no”. After gaining permission from Bullard, Trooper White looked at Bullard’s eyes and applied HGN and VGN. Bullard was asked to perform other field sobriety tasks but was unable per the trooper’s report.

Stephen Bullard was arrested and charged with 1st offense of driving under the influence. He was later released on a $2000 bond.
