Man charged after jacking an Amazon van and attempting to flee from police

34-year-old Billy Santerfeit was charged with three counts of theft of property, two counts of evading arrest, reckless driving, and reckless endangerment after he admitted to driving a stolen vehicle and took an Amazon van while the driver was out for delivery.

On December 3rd, Mt. Juliet Policer Officer Fialkowski received a report of a stolen vehicle from December 2nd in the area of South Mt. Juliet Road. Officer Dyce briefly witnessed the vehicle in the parking lot of Belk, and Corporal Drake also observed the driver, Billy Santerfeit, near Adams Lane, where the corporal attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

Corporal Drake reported that Santerfeit fled from the traffic stop and drove into oncoming traffic. As the police pursued Santerfeit, he disregarded traffic signals and other drivers that were on the road. The officers then stopped pursuing him due to safety concerns, and he was located again by Wilson County Sheriff’s Sergeant Everett in the area of Clark Drive.

Sergeant Everett was informed by a caller that Santerfiet exited his vehicle and took an Amazon van while the driver was making a delivery. When the sergeant tried to conduct a traffic stop, Santefiet turned his car around and attempted to flee from the police. According to the affidavit, the sergeant pursued him a short distance before he pulled into the residence of 3314 Stewarts Ferry Pike, where Santerfeit was detained.

The vehicle was reported stolen on December 3rd from Lone Oak Road. After he was detained, Santerfeit admitted to driving the vehicle and confirmed the location where he left it.

Billy Santerfeit was arrested and charged with three counts of theft of property, two counts of evading arrest, reckless driving, and reckless endangerment. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $22,500 bond.
